My interview at Forever 21 went well today.
It was not at all what I expected. I dressed in a white button-up with a black vest, black belt belt, black shoes, brown pants, argyle socks, and red plaid tie. I showed up 30 minutes early (because that’s what you do when you want a job), went to an employee and asked where I can wait. She looked me up and down with folded arms and a half-gaped jaw and said, “Uh, like, you guys are suppose to wait over there. Yeah, everyone’s meeting in that room.” So I think to myself, “Plural = group interview. Fuuuuck.” So I head over there and wait. 7 other people showed up: 3 were very much overqualified, 2 were very quiet with no experience, and 2 were outgoing and entry level like me. I was the only one who dressed semi-formal and sat up straight in my chair, so that gave me confidence. I also raised the interview’s eyebrow when explaining what IB is, plus my varsity sports and volunteer work. It lasted a full hour and I tried my best. I’ll find out if I get a second interview in 2-3 weeks. Or something like that.
After, I talked to one of the other interviewees who said, “group interviews make me nervous because I don’t want everyone else in my business! If it was one on one, I would have beat you!”
That made me happy because she implied that I won.
Score~~

I forgot to tell you all about that interview!
So I applied early action to Hofstra and was told I’d hear back from them like a month ago, but instead I got a letter explaining that I needed to do a mandatory interview and would be pushed to regular admission. The purpose was probably because my writing and numbers were good, but my SATs and ACTs didn’t match up.
Anyway, The guy who conducted the interview was a freshman English teacher or something and we really connected. In the interview we discussed:
- Albert Camus’s The Fall, The Stranger, and The Plague
- Man Ray
- 1920’s French Surrealism
- Foreign film
- The difference between Stanley Kubrick and Steven Spielberg
- David Lynch
Everything was totally up my ally and the guy was so friendly. I kinda wanted to be his friend.
“So if I attend your school, could we like hang out and shit?”
Perhaps one day.
Aaaaaaah good night everyone!
Today
I will be driving to Santa Clarita with Rachel to get an interview with a tattoo artist. I will be filming it. After, we might be meeting up with her grandma Yoyo and I might get a psychic reading because I feel like my life is going to shit and I’m desperate and I want something to give me possible hope.
Gon’ be a good day!
Well today I’m off to Orange County
to check out the area around Chapman University. Tomorrow I will be touring the campus and then I’ll be getting interviewed. I just hope they ask me questions I can actually answer.
