Hello, World

My name is Jake Irvin and this is where I post the things I enjoy and write what is on my mind. I was born in the Antelope Valley, California, but am currently attending Syracuse University in upstate New York as a film student. If you want to get to know me, feel free to leave me a message! I am a friendly guy.
I can’t believe I didn’t upload a picture of Rachel’s anniversary gift to me! It is a full deck of playing cards with something she loves about me written each. Each card is hand written with a heart shaped hole punched in and the book is bound together with really pretty maroon ribbon. It took a lot of time and creativity, it’s beautiful, and I absolutely love it!

Today was President’s Day and rachel got the day off from school, so we drove down to the MOCA in LA for the Kenneth Anger exhibit. It was a fantastic gallery, and we got to check out the other installation while there. Then we walked around Olvera Street (which is a bustling market place with venders that sells interesting trinkets) and China Town, where I scored Beatles and Black Sabbath 45s at a really cool music store. They were also selling a vintage electric slide guitar, which was gorgeous. and also $800. Totally worth it too, trust me on that. After, we ate at Canter’s Deli and had peta bread with hummus, a reuben, and a russian chocolate coffee cake.
We didn’t know the Oscars were going on tonight though, so we had to make a 30 minute detour to get on the freeway 2 blocks away. Other than that, it was an amazing day.

Today marked six (official) months with Rachel.

Six months ago I asked Rachel to be my girlfriend, though we were already acting like a couple long before. We count it from July 6th anyway.
Our plan was to go roller skating, but I guess the place closed down. So instead we went bowling and it was super fun! Rachel kicked my ass the first round, I won the second round (But I know she let me. Don’t ask her though, she won’t admit it.), and I technically won the third round by two, but that’s only because we ran out of time.
After, Rachel got her hair cut and now she has really cute bangs! Then we changed into our fancier clothes and ate at the Lemon Leaf on Lancaster Boulevard. I decided I’m going to be a new regular there. It was amazing. Then we just kinda walked the boulevard around for a bit and decided to get dessert at Denny’s. Two episodes of Hey! Arnold later at Rachel’s house, we closed the night.

She makes me so damn happy.

Rachel and I drove out to Lombardi’s Ranch today for a pumpkin-picking date. We got our faces painted, ate some incredibly delicious roasted corn, road on a horse-drawn carriage, road on a little train, explored a corn and sunflower field, and picked out some good looking pumpkins.

I think it was one of ou more creative dates. Definitely one of the most memorable!

My prom date was prettier than yours.

You know how I know?

Bam. That’s how I know.
And yes, we are riding in a fire truck.
I’ll explain the whole thing with pictures tomorrow.
Night!
