Photos of the weekend pt. 2

Sipping on some earl grey with my darling after a long, adventuresome day. I really missed those relaxing evenings with her. Everything is so much better when she is with me.

Such a magnificent weekend ^^

I took this the other day when I was sick and dying.

Last thought before bed:

We watched Birth of a Nation today at Cinematech (requires weekly screenings for school). If you are unfamiliar, it is a film by D. W. Griffith (whom some declare the father of modern day cinema) released in 1915. It was literally the first of its kind and broke cinematic all kinds of barriers. It is also pretty racist and was used as a recruiting video for the KKK. Lots of blackface. It caused riots upon release.

Because it is such a groundbreaking film in terms of budget, special effects, story development, acting, etc. etc. I found it incredibly interesting. No, I do not support racism or the KKK, but the movie was very well done.

Besides my friends Spencer and Zach, everyone else was being really obnoxious about it though. They thought it was boring and one kid even said “This movie fucking sucks.” People were walking out and talking and just overall being really immature about this learning experience. that’s when Spencer and I discovered wat will divide the Film majors: Those who open their minds and focus on substance and those who want more explosions.

Film is a tricky major like that I guess. You have your Stanley Kubricks and you have your Michael Bays.

Fuck it.

It’s 4:13 and i have to be up at 8:00. I’m going to bed. That last essay can wait for tomorrow, I have a 4 hour block between classes to complete it. It’s the kinda sort of fun one anyway, thank God.

I’m a lucky dude.
